Don't Throw It Away - The Collection & Preservation of Our History

Soror Joann Loveless,
Centennial Planning Chair

As we prepare for our centennial celebration in 2022, we will be searching for items to help tell the story of our Sorority and affiliates. On the Don't Throw it Away website, you will find all the information you need about our project to collect, document and preserve our history. Too often, our most important records find their way into the trash. Be a part of the movement to help us showcase our achievements in a variety of ways.

We seek to inspire pride and unity within our Sisterhood by highlighting all we have achieved by producing a variety of items, including but not limited to a documentary, picture book, exhibit, displays and virtual museum for the centennial.

We need the help of the Sisterhood and the larger community to locate our history and help us fill in the gaps by reclaiming evidence of active, inactive or deceased members who reached national prominence, historical photos, videos and audio recordings, books, personal letters from prominent figures to Sorority leaders, news clippings, unique paraphernalia and other items that tell our story.

The items being collected will provide the initial deposit in an ongoing effort to document the contributions of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. its membership, affiliates and staff. The archives will allow for a complete portrait of Sigma Gamma Rho to be developed.
